It is with tremendous sadness and love that we share the passing of

Lady Sintana

Lady Sintana

Founder and Witch Queen of
Ravenwood Church & Seminary of Wicca, Inc.

Without Lady Sintana’s tenacity, vision, and dedication to the Craft, most of us would not enjoy the freedoms of our religion today. Her contributions to Wiccan civil rights cannot be measured. Having been trained by many in the Traditional Craft community including Lord Sariel from the Isle of Man and Lady Circe of the Brotherhood and Sisterhood of Wicca in Toledo, OH, Lady Sintana founded Ravenwood Church & Seminary of Wicca, Inc. in the Little Five Points area of Atlanta in the 1970s. Through numerous court battles to win incorporation and recognition for Ravenwood as a 501c3 not for profit church, Lady Sintana paved the way for public acceptance of the Craft as a legitimate religion. Throughout her life, she served as a renowned and respected Craft Elder who was known for her outspoken commitment to promoting public education and understanding of the Old Ways. There were countless many who loved her, some who feared her, but never one who forgot her. We are all in her debt. With her passing, we lose yet another of the Elders who have shaped and formed our heritage and identity today. May we honor her memory and legacy by living truly, honestly and sincerely in keeping with the Old Laws and sacred teachings of our various Traditions. Journey well in Love and Trust, Great Lady. May we meet, and know, and love one another again in days and lives to come.

Although having been around Lady Sintana briefly only a few times I was saddened to hear of her death-even though I just discovered this site for posting my comments. She was a mover and shaker in our community almost without compare. As a 24 year practitioner myself I can't thank her enough for her pioneering work in the early development of our faith and
community. May Herne and Hertha bless her and keep her in their embrace in the Summerlands.

Blessed Be! I am just now learning of dearest Lady Sintana's passing. I met her at Ravenwood in Atlanta just after I had three root canals requiring hospitalization in 1977. I was looking for some advice to relieve extreme pain. Unexpectedly, someone I had known for a long time answered the door. Lady Sintana recommended the Middle Pillar Ritual. Providentially by harmonious coincidence, I had just bought a book teaching the Middle Pillar Ritual (The Miracle of New Avatar Power - by Geoff Gray-Cobb) . I learned it and have used it frequently, often with miraculous results. Although I am not an initiate of Wicca, I always felt welcome and it always felt good to be at Ravenwood. I visited Ravenwood and Lady Sintana many times for rituals, parties and just socially. I was at Ravewnwood the day that Lady Sintana was presented with her charter. She introduced me to some wonderfully powerful persons. She did a hand fasting for my Lady and I. Beautiful memories!

I absolutely love, miss, and adore Lady Sintana. Many years ago, I had the blessing of meeting her and Ravenwood at the Moreland Ave., Atlanta location for my very first Hallomas. I became a student, later an initiate, and always, always, always a devoted friend to Lady Sintana. L. Sintana is my teacher, my leader, my counsellor, my friend, my second mother, my blessing in every way. I treasure her. I always will. I can't count the ways she's blessed my life, personally. The hugest and most obvious comment...the fact that she is responsible, largely, for Wiccan rights in the U.S.A. We all owe her, beyond our dreams, for her energies. And for her astouding courage and abilities to get things done, for us all.\

I had the pleasure of meeting The Lady Sintana on several occasions. Her presence was commanding, and the energy she had was without a doubt, a force to be reckoned with. I had then, and will always have the utmost respect for her. I am sad to hear of her passing, but as we all know, it is just another step in her journey. Her vessel has expired, but her legacy will live on.....

I met her once at Ravenwood's monthly presentation in the late 70's at a now defunct bookstore. I believe Lord Merlin was with her. Someone asked a question about reincarnation, and she explained that we always progress upwards, never reverting to lower life forms. There was a pause, and I said, "Makes you wonder where all the Dodo birds went, doesn't it?" She doubled over with laughter and said, "I think I have one living in my house!" Sorry I could not have known her, but distance and circumstance did not allow. We can dream with wonder of where she might now be.

I met Lady Sintana as a newbie to RW. Later on, I was lucky enough to get to spend a wee bit of time with her on a road trip with 2 other initiates. She and I later exchanged letters for about a year after that. Soon, her illnesses would require more care.

Every time that I sat at her knee (quite literally doing so in her living room in NC!), I had the distinct feeling that I was getting only a glimpse of the fierce woman (Candy) and the figure (L. Sintana). Her life serves as a wonderful reminder of how profound one person's efforts can have, and how far reaching the rippling waves of their pebbles can travel.

While she was human, and had a flaw or two, her strength, wit, cunning and wisdom will be what we all remember. Her life's work helped to give every witch in this country, this state, and Atlanta more gifts than can be counted. I thank her deeply for all that I was able to glean from her, for her friendship, and for all that she did while she was here in the physical realm.

I take great comfort in the fact that she is in no more pain or discomfort and that she is wrapped warmly and tightly in a veil of Divine Love. Once oriented to her new surroundings, she will be the quiet, still and guiding voice that we can hear during meditation; the muse you thank for a wonderful idea; the aroma that you smell on a fall breeze that smells so familiar; and that little 'something' that you see out of the corner of your eye.

Thank you Lady Sintana; thank you Candy. Rest well!

See you later,

Vivianna

The Lady Sintana was a feirce and powerful example of devotion to the Craft of the Wise, and our right to practice the Old Ways. I was honored to share many wonderful memories with her as she warmly welcomed Foxwood Temple to her home and her teachings. This strenghthened all of us who wereguided by her example. She now dwells in the hallowed place of the summerlands as one of our guiding ancestral wisdom keepers. May we all keep her vision of a sound, strong and vital Craft alive and thriving. I greive the loss of her physical presence, but celebrate her life well-lived and her eternal spirit. We shall know and remember and love again, great Lady Sintana. May all the blessings of love encompass you! To Ravenwood, Ravenstone, Lord Merlin, and Sibyl; may your heart be healed, strengthened and renewed by all of our love for the Lady. Her legacy shall go on!
